North Star BlueScope Steel has an opening for an Application Programming Team Leader. This position’s main responsibilities include:

• Provide technical leadership on complex projects
• Instructs, direct and review work of the programming staff and external service provider contractors
• Develops, modifies and maintains complex computer programs / systems in accordance with standard Procedures
• Technical knowledge of all phases of application systems, analysis / programming
• Ensures that all programs conform to standards and are comprehensively reviewed
• Assists the IT Manager in developing standards and procedures for all associated systems / programming activities

Position requirements include:

• Graduation from a four year accredited college or university with major course work in a computer programming or related field.
• 3 years of programming and systems experience, or equivalent.
• Ability to instruct, direct , and review the work of programming staff
• Intense knowledge of structured analysis/design techniques, telecommunications concepts, office automation, control/database administration.
• Intense knowledge of programming languages which may include, C, C++ and C Sharp, .Net Access, and Visual Basic.

• Provide technical leadership on complex projects under limited supervision
• Gather business requirements and translate into functional requirements to be used as input to the design phase
• Design business test scripts that encompass all business requirements, conditions and scenarios to insure proper coding and testing of requirements
• Act as liaison between business area and IT regarding providing functional or data quality issues, participate in application problem resolution efforts and provide departmental and business area support about application functionalities
• Technical knowledge of application systems, analysis / programming

Position requirements include:

• Graduation from a four year accredited college or university with major course work in a business or engineering related field
• Experience in liaising extensively with external or internal clients
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills
